Kestrel 3

KESTREL
(falco tinunculus)

The Kestrel Falcon is the most common European raptor and the most widespread Bird of Prey in the UK. It is famous for its ability to hang motionless in the wind and is regularly seen hunting along our busy roadsides.

The Kestrel is a true falcon with long, narrow, pointed wings and a long tail. Despite its small size, the Kestrel is fearless! The Kestrel is also very economic. Apart from reducing winter energy bills by switching from hovering to perch hunting, the Kestrel also collects and stashes food to keep it going through temporary shortages!
