RSS Feed
What
are RSS Feeds?
RSS feeds allow you to see when websites have added new
content. You can get the latest headlines and stories in
one place, as soon as they are published, without having to
visit the websites you have taken the feed from.
How
do I start receiving an RSS feed?
In
general, the first thing you need is something called a
feed reader or 'news aggregator'. This is a handy piece of
software that will check the S.O.S. blog, for instance, and
let you read any new articles that have been added.
There are many different versions of RSS feed readers, some
of which are accessed using your browser, and some of which
are downloadable applications. On PC's, IE 7.0 has a good
feed reader built in, and so does Safari on the Mac.
Otherwise download
Feedreader
for the PC or
NetNewsWire Lite
for the Mac - both are free.
